Approximately £400m is being invested in the city’s education through the Building Schools for the Future programme which will deliver new ‘learning centres’ to every key community across the city. As well as transforming education BSF will provide community-focused schemes with the infrastructure they need to thrive.
The first wave of schools has now opened. These are -

- Archbishop Sentamu Academy
- Winifred Holtby School with Tweendykes Special School.
Construction is also under way at the new Kelvin Hall School which will be opening in April 2012. Planning approval has been secured for a further six schemes, the majority of which will be opening to students in September 2012. Visit their individual pages to see the latest on their progress -
